My name is Kelsey Phillips, and I am a Systems Strategist and the creator of The Reference Point™
I grew up across North Carolina, moving often and learning how to adapt quickly to new environments, new people, and new situations. That experience shaped the way I see the world today. I naturally notice patterns, understand how pieces interact, and find ways to make things work with what is already available.
Eventually, my path led me to Sugar Mountain, where I met my son’s father. Not long after, we opened a cafe and somehow managed to host my baby shower on the exact same day. We ran that business together for several years before selling it and moving to Wilmington, trading the mountains and snow for the coast.
After moving, I helped build and structure a construction company from the ground up while also earning my real estate license. Later, after our separation, I launched a boutique marketing consultancy. While the business was successful, I realized the work I was most drawn to was not simply the outward messaging. It was understanding the structure underneath it.
I was most energized by seeing how the pieces connected. The people, the resources, the operations, and the opportunities that already existed but had not yet been fully aligned.
That realization led me to create The Reference Point™, a framework built around understanding what already exists and creating sustainable pathways forward.
Outside of work, I am a mom to an amazing teenage son who keeps me humble daily, two ridiculous dogs, and the world’s calmest cat. You can usually find me outdoors kayaking, walking, or unplugging near the water or deep in the trees around Wilmington.
I am also rebuilding my relationship with faith and learning what it looks like to live and work from a place of purpose. I consider it a gift to spend my days doing the work I am naturally wired to do.
